"Death penalty" abolished or retained, court spokesman points out

The cabinet meeting on December 17 rejected the NHRC’s proposal to amend the law that imposes the death penalty, stating that the courts of justice have additional opinions on certain types of crimes that still require the death penalty. Those who proposed the abolition said it was to comply with international standards.
Today (21 Dec 2024), Supattra Nakhaphiew, a member of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), revealed that the NHRC's proposal sent to the Cabinet consists of 2 parts:

Please do not enact new laws that include the death penalty.
